Hey, I'm Jake Ryland
When I started engineering school, I was a below average student - no experience with complex subjects or a high academic load ... So unsurprisingly, I struggled big time. I failed many courses and even more exams - my chances of actually graduating weren't looking good.
I knew that if I actually wanted a diploma, I would need to totally overhaul everything. My mindset, my priorities, my approach, my ability to learn and focus .. all of it.
So thats what I did. I went back to the drawing board and completely changed how I was approaching school. I taught myself how to actually learn and retain complex material. It wasn't easy, but it worked. From that point on I never earned anything below a B and graduated with a 3.8 GPA.
Once I graduated, I realized that my story wasn't unique. 50% of engineering students don't make it to graduation for a reason. Everyone is expected to just level up on their own ... No guidance .. No support ... Trial by fire.
Since 2021 I've been sharing what I know on YouTube, in my book - Becoming an Engineer, and in my course - the Engineering Success Academy.
